Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) is the leading institution of Kazakhstan and one of the top universities in Central Asia. Today, KazNU is proud of its alumni who are Ministers, Governors, Top Managers, members of Parliament, CEOs of National corporations and Olympic Champions. In addition, KazNU students are strong in sports and they were medal winners in the following Olympic Games such as Beijing-2008, London-2012 and Rio-2016 Olympic Games. The University is going to celebrate its 85th anniversary in 2019.
The University was the first amongst CA universities joined to Global HUB of the UN “Academic Impact” program on sustainability, aimed at support of 10 internationally recognized principles of the UN. With the support of UN, Al-Farabi KazNU has become a part of the worldwide student program “The UN Model: The New Silk Road.” The university is also a member of the following international organizations: the International Association of Universities, European Society for Engineering Education, the international Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience and International Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence, and the Indo-US Collaboration for Engineering Education. Nobel Prize winnerssuch as John Forbes Nash, Finn E. Kydland, Roger D. Kornberg, Christopher Pissarides and Murray Gell-Manngave lectures to KazNU students.
Al-Farabi KazNU continues to take the lead in the National Rankings universities of Kazakhstan and its academic programs being ranked number one for many several decades. The university also presented with the Presidential award of the Republic of Kazakhstan “For achievements in the area of quality”. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) is at 220 place of the QS World University Rankings 2019, making it Kazakhstan’s highest ranked university. Al-Farabi KazNU is ranked 10th in the EECA University Rankings 2018, and became the first University in Kazakhstan and the only one in the Central Asian region, which awarded Four Stars of Excellence in QS Stars Development Road map international rating.
All undergraduate and postgraduate programs of KazNU are accredited by leading European agencies such as ASIIN, FIBAA, AQ, ACQUIN. The University’s Faculty of Medicine was launched in 2015. Today, Al-Farabi KazNU has a total of 16 schools which offer 82 BA, 102 MA and 63 PhD wide range programs in engineering, natural sciences, humanitarian and social sciences, medical sciences and economics. Also Al-Farabi KazNU covers a wide spectrum of fundamental and applied research which are based at 8 research institutes, 25 centers, 2 National Level Labs and in Regional Technopark.
